Bouncing Between Passions: The Case for Creative Multiplicity

Bouncing Between Passions: The Case for Creative Multiplicity

You've probably heard it a thousand times: "Pick a niche. Stay in your lane. Focus on one thing."

And if you're anything like me, that advice makes your skin crawl.

Because here's the truth—some of us aren't built for lanes. We're built for bouncing. Between mediums, between passions, between the person we were yesterday and the one we're becoming today.

That's exactly how Bouncing Around the Room came to be.

We Started with Soap (But We Didn't Stop There)

Yes, we began with handmade soaps and skincare. Small-batch, richly scented, crafted with intention. And we still make them—because there's something deeply satisfying about creating products that make people feel good in their own skin.

But soap was never the whole story.

While my hands were mixing oils and fragrances, my mind was sketching designs. Exploring occult symbolism. Writing. Creating art that needed to exist in the world, even if it didn't fit neatly into a "soap brand."

So instead of forcing myself into a box, I let the brand expand. Now, alongside our Soaps & Skin Care, you'll find:

  • Original art prints and home goods that blend surreal, occult, and deeply personal themes
  • Handmade fashion pieces—from beanies to bomber jackets—featuring designs you won't find anywhere else
  • The Children of Saturn collection, a deeply personal exploration of Saturnian energy, constraint, shadow work, and transformation
  • Fragrances crafted with the same care as our skincare, including luxury extraits with 30% fragrance concentration
  • Creative tools like our BAD FAITH zine and digital assets for fellow artists

It's a lot. And it's intentional.

Why Creative Multiplicity Matters

We live in a culture obsessed with specialization. But for many of us—especially artists, makers, and creatives—that pressure to "pick one thing" feels suffocating.

The truth is, bouncing between passions isn't a lack of focus. It's a different kind of focus.

It's about following curiosity. Honoring the full spectrum of who you are. Refusing to shrink yourself to fit someone else's idea of what a "brand" should look like.

And honestly? The world needs more of that energy.

When you allow yourself to create across multiple mediums, you bring unexpected connections to the surface. The same themes that show up in a Saturn talisman might inspire a fragrance blend. The color palette from a painting might become a soap collection. Everything informs everything else.

That's not chaos—that's alchemy.

The Challenge (And the Beauty) of Being Multi-Passionate

I won't lie—running a multi-faceted creative business comes with challenges.

Take our fashion pieces, for example. We collaborate with Contrado, a print-on-demand partner that lets us turn original art into wearable pieces without holding massive inventory. It's a dream for small creators... except the markup is high. Which means I can't always price things the way I'd like.

But here's what I've learned: the right people get it.

They understand that handmade, artist-designed, ethically produced work costs more than mass-produced fast fashion. They value the story behind the piece, the intention in the design, the fact that no one else will be wearing the same thing.

And those are the people we're here for.

Permission to Bounce

If you've ever felt guilty for having "too many" interests, or worried that your brand isn't "cohesive" enough, let this be your permission slip:

You don't have to pick one thing.

You can make soap and art. You can sell skincare and talismans. You can write, design, create, and explore—all under one roof.

Your multiplicity isn't a flaw. It's your signature.

At Bouncing Around the Room, we're proof that you can build something authentic by honoring all of who you are. Not just the parts that fit neatly into a business plan.

So go ahead—bounce. Between passions, between projects, between versions of yourself.

We'll be here, doing the same.
